Below are some of the most famous traditional Bulgarian foods:

Appetizers:
  1. Turshiya- It comprises Garlic, chili, Celery, cauliflower, carrots, beets, shallots, cabbage, aubergines and other vegetables & dried aromatic herbs pickled in vinegar and salt and different spice mixtures which usually include whole black peppers, ginger, etc

Soups:
  1. Tarator (cold soup)- It is a cold soup made out of yogurt, cucumbers, garlic, walnuts, dill, vegetable oil and water.
  2. Shkembe chorba- It is a tripe soup; Includes thick lining of stomach of cattle, made with milk, garlic, vinegar, chilli peppers and other seasoning. It is known to help hangover.
  3. Bob chorba- It is a bean soup, made out of dry beans, onions, tomatoes, spearmint and carrots

Salads:
  1. Shopska salad-It is made from tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, roasted peppers and feta cheese
  2. Snow White salad- It is made with pressed yogurt, cucumbers and nuts and olives on top
  3. Ovcharska salad- It is made out of tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, peppers, olives, ham, yellow cheese, boiled eggs, olives and parsley

Main dishes:
  1. Moussaka- It is aubergine-based dish, based on potatoes, eggplants, tomatoes and minced meat
  2. Guyvetch- It is an oven-baked beef and vegetable stew, with olives, tomatoes, mushrooms, rice, onnions, herbs and spices
  3. Sarmi- It is a grape, cabbage, or chard leaf roll, with rice, minced meat and herbs inside of it

Bread and pastries:
  1. Banitza-It is prepared by layering a mixture of whisked eggs and pieces of feta cheese between filo pastry and then baking it in an oven
  2. Tikvenik - It is a type of banitza with pumpkin inside and no cheese

Others:
  1. Yogurt and diary products- Bulgaria is famous for its diary products, such as cheeses and yogurt
